Why Muay Thai?

Muay Thai, known as the "Art of Eight Limbs," is a dynamic martial art that combines striking techniques using fists, elbows, knees, and shins. Beyond its effectiveness in self-defense, Muay Thai offers a full-body workout that enhances strength, agility, and mental resilience.

At Tiger Muay Thai Singapore, we welcome beginners with open arms. Whether you're aiming to get fit, learn self-defense, or explore a new hobby, our classes in Pasir Panjang and Raffles Place are designed to guide you every step of the way.

What Is Muay Thai?

Originating from Thailand, Muay Thai is a striking martial art that emphasizes powerful techniques and fluid movement. Practitioners often experience improved cardiovascular health, increased flexibility, and enhanced mental focus.

  • Flexible Locations: Train at our spacious Pasir Panjang facility or our boutique studio in Raffles Place, both equipped with professional-grade equipment.

Essential Gear for Muay Thai Beginners

Starting your Muay Thai journey requires minimal equipment:

  • Hand Wraps: Protect your wrists and knuckles during training

  • Gloves: 12- 14oz gloves are standard for beginners.

  • Shin Guards: Essential for technical sparring

  • Mouthguard: Recommended for sparring sessions.

At Tiger Muay Thai Singapore, we offer rental options for gloves and shin guards, allowing you to try out the sport before making a full investment.

What to Expect in Your First Class as a Muay Thai Beginner

Your initial class will introduce you to:

  • Warm-Up Exercises: To prepare your body and prevent injuries

  • Shadow Boxing: This is where your trainers will check your form and techniques

  • Pad Work: Where you will sweat the most and spend more one to one time with a trainer, striking kick pads with full power

  • Bag Work: Freestyle on the bag to practice combos, or drilling kick or knee reps

  • Sparring: Trying out techniques such as attacks and defense with a live partner. This is done in a controlled environment without hitting hard so as not to cause injury to your partner.

  • Cool Down: Stretching and recovery to end the session.

Our trainers provide personalized attention, ensuring you understand each movement and technique.

Tips for Success as a Muay Thai Beginner

  • Stay Consistent: Regular attendance accelerates learning.

  • Ask Questions: Don't hesitate to seek clarification from your trainer.
